A Riot of Beauty, A Riot of Scars
2025 – Digital collage from photographed and digitally manipulated found media.

In this work I explore the repetitive, almost ritualistic acts that shape and erode the self. The layered vintage imagery – domestic objects, safety pins, fragments of fabric – evoke the relentless preening and perfecting expected of women, a performance both glamorous and exhausting.

For me, that surface is not just symbolic. I live with compulsive skin‑picking, a private negotiation with texture and flaw, a drive to smooth and repair that never resolves. The work becomes a mirror for that compulsion: hands that pluck, polish, and stitch, a riot of beauty held together by pins and threads.
