The Gospel According To H.S.L.
2025 – Digital collage from photographed and digitally manipulated found media
The Gospel According To H.S.L reimagines the traditional religious triptych through the lens of domesticity and the female body as spectacle. A vintage pin‑up is enthroned within a lace‑lined frame, surrounded by floral wallpaper suggestive of home, belonging, and constraint. Below, a clipped letter pleads for ever more images of bound women, echoing the voices of a culture that worships yet objectifies.
This work plays with the language of devotion while questioning what has historically been sanctified. By layering mid‑century imagery, domestic textures, and iconography, The Gospel becomes both shrine and critique: a portrait of how women have been venerated, commodified, and confined within the ideals of home and desire.
