The Gaze Reassembled: Hitchcock and the Icy Blonde

During this period, my work turned toward psychoanalysis and the male gaze in cinema; specifically Hitchcock’s fixation on the archetype of the “icy blonde.” Drawing from films like Vertigo, Psycho, and The Birds, I dissected the ways these characters were constructed, objectified, and framed.

Using stills captured directly from the films, I reworked them into digital collages—deconstructing and reassembling moments to challenge their original context. This process allowed me to engage critically with the aesthetics of control, obsession, and spectatorship, using Photoshop as a means of visual intervention. These works sit at the intersection of film theory, image-making, and critique.
